Say wha?
So, the cat really isn’t out of the bag yet. We think that we’re having a girl, but we don’t know for sure. That last panel was pretty much my reaction when hearing the technician’s explanation. More to be revealed in the next installment…Â

Congrats!
So the CD is going to have a “Cool Daughter”: Daddy’s little girl! Read that as “Appa’s little girl” in the case of the CBCD!
But what the technician said is correct! USG images are initially non-specific as regards to the sex of the baby! The genital ridges (or swellings) are common to both the sexes in the early stages of fetal development and it depends on the subjective assessment of the USG operator based on his/her personal experience in realtime! The image plate is just a reference, it cannot be used as a confirmatory proof!
I have seen experienced OBGYNs making errors in this regard!
So this is what the tech means when he/she says “usually”!

By “CD”, you can only mean “Cool Desi”, of course. Cause I’m definitely NOT confused.

That’s a nice take!
Cool you are; no doubt!
But the fact that you spent 4 years as an undergrad studying transformers, grids, transmission and other heavy electrical stuff; and 2 years+ with a dissertation as a postgrad going into the nitty-gritties of the subject probably involving microelectronics and related stuff; and then switching over to Fine Arts at a much later date seems that you took your own sweet time discovering what you wanted in life!
Imagine if you had chosen Fine Arts as a major much earlier, we would have seen PC Weenies or something similar much earlier! How did your family react to your decision to switch over to the arts?
But great that you did switch over, you’ve got some talent indeed!
Besides, if you go by your “country of descent” and the slang used there (especially in the national language), the C in CD could mean something “totally different”!
No offense!

lol. none taken. I just like to defy stereotypes.
I’ve always been drawing, and I did wish that I pursued art much earlier, in the formal sense, instead of going the engineering route. But, looking back on the whole experience, I have no regret -after all, I probably wouldn’t have come up with the PC Weenies…
This is definitely one of the areas of my life that I plan on tackling in “Uncubed” - stay ‘tooned…

Congrats!
My little babygirl is due in less than a month, so i can totally relate to your reaction…
when we had an ultrasound at about 20 weeks the technician wasnt certain either, she just couldnt get the ‘private parts’ in focus, the baby kept moving away all the time…
so in the end she gave us a 90% probability that we’d have a girl, a week later we had another ultrasound where it was confirmed
Regards,
Casper
