Apart from English, there are 22 official languages [with over 1 million speakers as minimum] as recognized by the states in Union: Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. 3. There are 50 regional languages with speakers over 100,000 speakers and around 1652 recognized languages spoken in India overall, as per census! That should be mind-boggling, huh?
