Come back on January 1st, when Uncubed resumes its once-per-week publication. Updates will occur every Tuesday. To kick things off, the first Uncubed strip for 2008 will be featured in glorious full-color!

I’ve had much more time to work with Comicpress, and now that I’m a bit more familiar with how things are done ‘under the hood’, I thought I’d take a few moments to shed some light on 4 valuable plug-ins you’ll want to add to make your site even more robust. These are all FREE, as in beer, though I’m sure in many cases, the developers aren’t averse to accepting donations for their hard work. Okay, so here goes… here are my top 4.
- Akismet – Tired of spam in your comments? Akismet catches spam before it even gets anywhere close to appearing on your website. A genuine lifesaver.
- Â Comment Timeout – this one automatically closes off comments after a prescribed period of time. A good thing to have to prevent spammers from infesting your archived blog posts.
- Secure and Accessible PHP form – this was one I found earlier this week. It’s an extremely easy-to-install contact form that provides a powerful anti-spam / anti-exploit set of security features.
- Sociable – see those funny little icons under each blog post? Sociable makes your blog posts easy to tag on any one of the social networks (Digg, Fark, StumbleUpon, etc.)
Those are my top 4 WordPress plugins. What are yours?

I have to give credit where credit is due. Comicpress, built by webcartoonist Tyler Martin, ROCKS! I first experimented with Comicpress a few months back, when I started Uncubed. Since then, I’ve had more time to sit down and work with it. The more I play around with it, the more I find it to be amazing. Comicpress is incredibly easy to use. One doesn’t have to be a whiz at PHP, scripting, or CSS to figure things out, and that’s what I like about this app. Do check it out.

….I’m in the process of tweaking the look and feel of the Uncubed website. Among the changes are the inclusion of ads, courtesy of Project Wonderful. I’m jonesing to return back to the comic, but there are a few other important freelance projects I need to finish first. Thanks for your patience, and once again, Happy Holidays!

Making her debut into Uncubed – please welcome Sonia Indu Sadasivam!
With today’s comic, I’m taking Uncubed on hiatus until early Januaryish. Have a wonderful holiday season and see you soon!
