Aarti
Aartis are performed whenever there is a significant life event in a person’s life, whether he or she is embarking or returning from a long journey, entering a new home for the first time, getting married, or having a child. It is also performed before an important task - to ward off evil as well as incur blessings.
Devotional songs, or bhajans, are always concluded by singing the aarti.
And apparently, the evil eye is quite common in other cultures / religions.
Regarding the comic production itself, I think I’m going to revert back to black-and-white. Coloring takes up a great deal of extra time - and with the last few installments, I haven’t had as much time to do it right.
Besides, I think the black-n-white look is really beginning to grow on me.

two things:
1.) interesting strip this week… so aarti is a noun or a verb? Aarti is soo much cooler now
2.) yay to the black and white!! Leaves so much more for my imagination.

Yes, the B&W look has a classic feel to it. I sometimes wonder whether it’s better to do it fully B&W or use shades of grey.
