Yeah I know all about that too. My wife is a professional Midwife.

Honestly in the time we've been together (coming up on 8 years in October) I've learned more about women's and baby's health than I ever really expected to know in my life :D

Not only you Jason, your baby and wife are benefited by this!

Suckling from the breast requires the baby to generate greater inspiratory pressure to create the negative pressures that allow for milk let down! This ensures that the baby develops a healthy respiratory system and has decreased incidence of colds, asthma and related breathing disorders in the long run! Whereas feeding from a bottle doesn't require half the effort and you can guess the rest!
Also, babies have a lesser tendency to regurgitate and choke when they suckle from the breast as opposed to the bottlefed babies!
You can confirm this from your pediatrician as well.

For your wife, breastfeeding has been proven in many published studies to decrease the incidence of breast cancer, galactocele, galactorrhoea, mastitis and related disorders! This advantage is provided by no breast pump despite all the claims to the contrary!

And contrary to what the media would have you believe, it does not screw with the natural shape and contour of the breast! So you can rest easy as well!
