Games Aunties and Uncles Play…

I’ll be the first to admit it. Indian people can be weird.

The only complaint I have ever had was when flying from Muscat Oman to Abu Dhabi UAE I was on a flight with quite a few workers who apparently were flying home via Abu Dhabi. When we lined up to show our boarding passes one fellow that I could only guess to be Indian stood so close to me that the toes of his shoes were touching the heels of mine and his feet weren’t that big so basically he was pretty much leaning on my back.

It was a little annoying as I’m not comfortable with people I don’t know being that close to my back, but I remained cool because I figured it was just a cultural difference. I’m guessing that being close to strangers in public areas is common to Indians where it isn’t to Americans and Europeans.

Never seen them stare at each other before though.

It is inevitable in India where queues are generally crowded with people. Yes it is annoying not just for foriegners but for Indians as well.

But we have to tolerate it as it is unavoidable in many crowded places and the response you would get in public places is (if they are not rude) is “Is this your grandfather’s personal property?”

The staring thing is most prevalent with Indians who’ve moved to the US. Generally the older the couple the more they stare. They don’t smile or anything - just stare…

Staring is our birthright and we shall have it

Instead of staring, engaging in some type of conversation would be better…
