Living la Vida Loca…

I’ve been doing a lot more biking the last few days. Dinner on Monday night consisted a homemade sandwich, while Tuesday night’s delicacy was Kraft Mac -n- Cheese (the whole grain variety).

Tonight I cranked up the notch and made some cheese ravioli. I’m basically eating the same type of stuff that I did before I got married and it’s not really exciting.

I’m also staying up much later to work on projects and stuff. I’ve never been more productive, which seems like a positive thing, until you realize that I’m sacrificing my sleep to be that way.

Thursday’s going to be an incredibly long day for me. My day will start at 10AM and go until midnight. I think tonight I’ll get some extra sleep.

Also, some potentially good news (which I can’t talk about) came about today, which I’m really excited about. It’s a high profile gig for a high-profile client. I’ll leave it at that for now…

On Being a Bachelor…

Sonia and Aarti are visiting my parents, as is my sister Ramaah. I’m missing out on spending time with them, but I know it’s good for Sonia to get to know her family a little more.

Day 1: The Bachelor Experience

I’ve decided to start blogging a bit more here on Uncubed. With Aarti and Sonia away for a while, my goal is to share some insight on what it’s like to live the life of a bachelor again.

Sunday after Aarti and Sonia left, I came home, took the car seat out, to make room for my bike.

On a recent bike ride last Wednesday, I ran over some thorns and that lead to a punctured tire. I had never been able to take the bike into the shop (located about 20 miles away) because it wouldn’t fit in the car without having the back seats folded.

Taking the car seat out wasn’t exactly easy. It took about 20 minutes to remove the car seat base, and then another 10 minutes to put the bike into the car without scratching anything.

On a hunch, I confirmed that the bike store I was planning to go to (Oliver’s Cycle Sports) was, in fact, open on Sundays – so I made the pilgrimage. I was greeted by a friendly staff. The mechanic on duty, a guy named Gil, expertly replaced the back tube and gave the bike a much-needed tune-up.

While I was there, I picked up a new odometer (see the shots above) and a greaseless lubricant to keep the mechanical parts (chain, pedals, gears, etc.) running in tip-top shape.

Grocery-shopping consisted of going back to those bachelor day staples – pasta, ravioli, tacos, and sandwiches. I’m not one for spending too much time in the kitchen. But even my best efforts pale in comparison to what Aarti can cook. I’m missing her food already!

In the evening was penne-pasta, which came out pretty well, if I do say so myself. The evening was a quiet, relaxing time. I drew the remaining comics for the week and called it a night around midnight.

While it was the first night in a long time that I experienced a solid 8+ hour of continuous sleep, I couldn’t help but miss my wife and little girl.

Guilted…

I’d say something as commentary, but I know that somethings are better left unsaid. :) -Krishna
