Uncubed Feedback: Lemme Have It!

I’m doing the same spiel over on PC Weenies.

Basically the jist of it is:

I’m looking for some input here - be brutally honest with me so I can know the truth. What do you like about Uncubed? What would you change? This could be about anything related to the comic. Anything related to the ‘toon is fair game.

I just want to take thing to a new level - to make awesome comics and garner more readers and more traffic. Having some insight on what readers like and don’t like will help me understand my readership and give them more of what they want.

Your feedback is immensely appreciated.

P.S. Where should I start targeting the comic? Any good websites that would be receptive to my comics?

    Krishna,

I think you are doing a great job on the Uncubed site. In fact, I find it more interesting than PC Weenies right now. Maybe its because I’ve always wondered about your culture and growing up, but was afraid to ask or didn’t know the right questions to ask. :-)

As much as I hate to say it, I’m finding PCW a little stale right now. They aren’t bad, but they just aren’t as funny as some in the past. Have you thought about going on a sabbatical of sorts, focusing on Uncubed, and recharging the PCW thought bank? Or even dropping back a few days on PCW? It seems the juggling of two strips, Sonia, and teaching has drained the thought bank. Believe me, I totally understand with all the sleep I don’t get with a newborn daughter in the house. :-)

Keep up the good work, my friend. Take some time for yourself and your family, and recharge.

Thanks for the feedback, Scott. Uncubed is a lot of fun for me to draw. PCW is fun too - but maybe I’m trying to make the comic too much, too soon. I’m not sure if the storyline approach fits my humor - or the M-W-F format. I’m not too crazy about going back to doing single-panel strips. Maybe move the thrust more to Bob at work?

I hadn’t planned on taking a hiatus - i’ve only got a few more months before the 10 year mark (!).

    Krishna,

I still think the multi-panel is the way to go with PCW. While the storyline format works, I think the one shot strips per week may work better than the weekly storylines. Your humor fits with the one-shot strips, I think, better than the storylines. Plus I wasn’t being to stop doing PCW, just maybe pairing back to one-two strips IF AND ONLY IF you felt pressured or that you needed a break. I wouldn’t want to stop the strip, especially with the Decade coming around! I can’t beilieve it has been that long. It seems like only yesterday you were telling me about the concept!!

    heya,

i know between jobs and life you must be pretty busy, but i think having comics more often would be for-the-win =)

    Welcome, shyam!

I’d love to do more UNcubed comics each week, but my schedule being what it is - unless I win the lottery or get lots of donations (wink! wink! nudge! nudge!) I’m afraid one a week is all I can do. But you can always check out the other comic (PCW) which updates 3 times a week.

    Hey Krishna

I am in the UK and work in Mental Health. I have both your sites to load when I boot up my browser and do find them funny. They help to just break into the moment with a little light humour. Much needed.

You have a hard task really when you think about it. Everyone is different and each has a slightly different angle on the world. So you will never get it right for all. Not to mention, can you be funny when you feel crap!! I like the story board approach as it causes me to think about what will happen next. But must be the hardest style of comic strip, because you have to look a head, you cannot always find something really funny. The idea of feed back is again different, but in a way should help you as it becomes a source of external input that should stimulate you more…… like a fresh gene pool lol.

Thanks, Kevin! I guess the golden rule holds true: “You can’t please everybody all the time…” - you have to write what you personally would enjoy reading.
