Many of "those couples" are so immune to their own offspring's bawlings that they believe no one else can hear it too... So they just ignore it.... and carry on eating.. all the while the fruit of their loins is busy spitting on me and trying to grab my food as I eat it.... I'm just saying it could happen..... Oh I’ve seen a lot of “those couples”… but at least you notice the crying. The same applies to planes. I fly a lot. Before I had a child, I was the frowning guy who muttered about the screaming babies. Now I am the dad who misses his own, so plays peek-a-boo with any/all babies on the plane. And, after years of hearing my own scream, I literally can't hear (or simply don't notice) the babies screaming on the plane any more. :) But... 1) Please keep your kid from kicking the seat in front of him/her and from banging on the tray table. Yes, difficult... believe me I know... but figure out a way to keep the kid occupied. 2) Keep your babies out of business class. The kid does not need the space and most of the people in business class are business people: they need the time to sleep or work and paid (well, their company paid) a lot for them to be able to. I once had a snap trip to Europe: land and go to the client immediately. I NEEDED to sleep on that plane, just a little. You can guess the rest.
