I experienced the same feeling that you mention, 4 years ago. My wife, stepson, and I were hit by a drunk; he came flying by and took the back end off our car, breaking my wife’s collarbone in two places.
I also took it as a reminder that life is uncertain, and to not procrastinate. Of course after a while, I began to procrastinate about things again, which I’m working on now. : ^ )
