Next week I inch ever closed to 40. This evening, my parents and Aarti surprised me with a birthday cake (chocolate fudge) and some wonderful pani-puri. Good times!

The highlight was Sonia saying “Happy Birthday, Papa.” Soo cute. :)

On a completely unrelated note, I’d like to welcome all the new readers who are arriving over from AppleGeeks. I hope you enjoy your visit. Stop by every week for new comics!

Not Really a Break…

Not Really a Break…

…because a break would imply I’m relaxing.

My first big show is at MiniMegaCon in Orlando FL on August 22nd and 23rd. There’s a lot of prep work I have to take care of before this weekend, so I wasn’t able to properly update the site with a new comic.

If you’re in the area, please stop by my booth. Aarti and I will be there, with UNcubed / PC Weenies samplers and my new trade paperback, PC Weenies: Rebootus Maximus!

In the meantime, apologies for the lack of a proper update. You’ll just have to settle for what I’ve drawn today. :)

New comic next week (and coincidentally the 2 year anniversary of the strip!)

Stay ‘tooned,

-Krishna

Girl Power

DCP_4003

My grandmother will be 95 years old this October. She lives in Bangalore, India and my memories of her include tons of homemade treats, both sweet and savory, an incredible sense of determination and a stubborn streak.

When we were young, my brother and I would fly to Bangalore to spend the summer and if we slept till 7 am, she would greet us with a sarcastic and yet affectionate, “good afternoon”.

My grandfather passed away before my mother got married and so my solo memories of a grandparent lie with my grandmother. I will be going to India later this year and hope to see her, because I may not see her again. My daughter, Sonia is her only great-granddaughter and I want them to meet. I think your heritage and your legacy become more important as you get older…

I’m posting a picture that was taken in December 2004. My grandmother, my mother and I. One of my most cherished possessions. Girl-power! My sister is missing from the picture because she didn’t make it to Bangalore….here’s hoping for another picture with her and Sonia in it!

What are some of the best memories of your grandparents when you were young?

Two the Hard Way

Two the Hard Way

We went to the zoo on Saturday, to celebrate Aarti’s birthday. Things started out fine enough. It was a beautiful morning, we had pancakes for breakfast. All was well. Then just as we pulled into the entrance to the zoo, Sonia heaved ho.

We didn’t have any spare clothes, so we had to take her in, all covered in vomit, to the nearest restroom in the zoo. Needless to say, we were a bit less than enthused with the remainder of our trip. Things did pick up, however, when Sonia went to the petting zoo.

We’ve since learned that Sonia’s not very comfortable with being in the car for too long – she’s been throwing up on nearly every 20 – 30 minute drive we’ve taken within the last few weeks.

How do you handle a car sick baby? What are some things we can try to minimize Sonia’s motion sickness during short drives?

Cooling Off!

We went to the Lowry Park Zoo on Saturday. It was ridiculously hot outside, so when the opportunity to soak ourselves in water presented itself… well, we took it. :)

I know the blog has been somewhat in the doldrums lately, but I hope to rectify that by adding my wife Aarti on as a co-author. She’ll be blogging about parenthood, Indian cooking, and whatever strikes her fancy.

Please help me welcome her to the blog!

A relaxing (and safe) view which greets me when I work on my computer. The wallpaper will be available in Snow Leopard, when it’s released, as I’ve been informed.

Third Stone from the Sun (Sitar Style)

August 4th, 2009 | by krishna

This is a very cool interpretation of Jimi’s instrumental, “Third Stone from the Sun”, by Alberto Marsicano of Sitar Experience. It’s the first time I’ve heard the sitar used for a Hendrix tune.
