So, just a brief update on Sonia’s sleeping situation (which I’ll document in a forthcoming UNcubed strip). As many of you know, Sonia doesn’t like to stay in her crib and fall asleep on her own. We’ve tried leaving her in there, but she’ll howl and cry for an hour before the exhaustion forces her to sleep.
We’ve closed the door, we’ve tried to leave, but we’ve stuck to our guns. Just yesterday I tried something different. Instead of putting her in her crib, when it was time for her to go to sleep, I brought her into my office, turned on iTunes and played a few Michael Jackson tunes with the screensaver visualizer active.
After a few minutes she started to nod off. When she was just on the verge of falling asleep, I put her into her crib. There was no resistance on her part. Wanting to test a hunch, I tried the same tactic this evening.
It worked again, like a charm. I don’t mind this type of bed time ritual, as long as it gives us a little more peace and quiet at night. So, thank you Michael Jackson, and thank you iTunes. You’ve made two very tired parents happy.

I can give you another tactic, you have to put her o the crib and stay a time with her, recucing the time and increasing the distance everyday, you can talk to her from the distance, Sonia i´m here don´t cry or something, she has to know she must sleep alone, it´s hard because she will cry sooner or later because it´s her resource for “manipulate” you and Aarti.
Good luck!
Ahemm… isn’t MJ inappropriate for kids
Joking apart, I wish you a very happy new year, Krishna. Have a great year and look forward to expand your family.
Hmmmm Michael Jackson and kids not something your hear together very often these days.
Tehehe! Ah well what ever works for her I guess… Least it’s not Eminem!
I don’t know how to explain it, but the MJ songs worked again last night. Sonia was out like a light after just a few minutes. I know she was tired, but the music seemed to bring about sleep in ways that I can’t seem to explain.
