So, I’m all alone for the next three weeks. Aarti and Sonia are having a blast over at my parents’ place in Tennessee, while I soldier on. The strip above happened to me a few days ago, when I noticed our washer wasn’t sounding like its usual self.
Being somewhat mechanically challenged, I did what any Indian guy would do in such a situation… heh.

What do you mean any “Indian guy”. I’m not Indian and would still call maintenance, or my father-in-law who is so much better with mechanical things than I ever could be.
Keep up the good work.
My father always points out that i can tear apart and rebuild a computer and have it work with ease, but anything else mechanical ive been pretty useless, like more poor old truck that finally died.
Dude, I’m the same way. Give me a computer and I can have it taken apart and put back together no problem. With cars and appliances, I’m in the dark. I’m chalking it up to Selective Geektitude.
Yeah, Indian? I’m whiter than Jay Leno and I still would call maintenance!
“For god’s sake, if any of you see me under a car, call 911, because something terrible has happened.”
Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, Leno knows how to work on cars.
heh, I think most of us artsy-tech-geek types can relate. I can use a screwdriver and a drill.. but that’s the extend to my handy-ness.
House to yourself? Sounds like a good time to get some serious cartooning done!
I did a computer repair at a house one time. While I was there, I ended up fixing the washer. The water wouldn’t drain. No joke – I get asked to do a lot of jobs that aren’t within my normal area of expertise. I do it anyway because I like the diversion. And if people are willing to pay my fees for computer repair while I put in a new light bulb or whatever, then they will get some extra help.
My husband can fix any computer. He even built the one he has now. But if there’s a problem with the car or some household appliance- I usually take that on. We all have our own skill sets I suppose.
Heh… before we got married, I explained to my now wife that while I did a lot of things, plumbing was not on that list. All I learned from ECE at UT about water was that it was bad. And that was enough for me.
