I was getting my permit, and I was nearly 16. I had to take the eye test, and could barely pass, as my right eye was pretty blurry (astigmatism). I knew my right wasn't nearly as strong as my left, because I've had eye tests at the optometrist, but I didn't realize it was _that_ bad. In my early 20s I started wearing glasses, and have worn them ever since, but my vision hasn't gotten much worse, so I can still operate without them, I just have more trouble resolving fine details with my right eye. I still don't have a lens restriction on my license at 27, but I've always renewed via mail. I have a feeling the next time I have to go in to the DMV, I'll end up with a lens restriction. At that point my eyesight was so poor even the teachers couldn't ignore it. When Mom caught me sitting directly in front of the TV, she put her foot down.
