Growing up in the US in the mid-70′s / 80′s, it was tough for an Indian kid like me to find someone to look up to. I straddled the divide between Indian and American. Thankfully, there are many more role models for Indian Americans to look up to now…

Ah, I know what it is like to grow up while being different from those around you. It’s a tough road, especially if you live in a small town populated by bumpkin rednecks.
What’s worse is living in a small town AND being Indian.
What’s odd is living in a big multicultural city where even though you’re considered to be in the majority, most of your neighbors are “visible minorities,” and you stood out in high school because you’re white.
@Jordan I feel for you, man. It seems like everyone I know is either Indian or East Asian.
