Here’s some advice from someone who has been there done that and is still doing it
The Ferber method is only partially right. You have to actually do a little more:
1. Have a routine that you do EVERY NIGHT. Ours includes a song and the closing of the shutters mother prays then daddy tells a story.
2. Put the child to bed early enough. We normally lay our boys down at about 19:00 (7pm), though we don’t go to bed ourselves yet. With the younger boy when he wakes up crying we will check on him. If he is standing in his crib we will lay him down, cover him up and stay there a little bit until he knows that someone is there. Eventually he dozes off again. We might have to do this several times even in the middle of the night when we are in bed as well (yes he sleeps in our room and will for at least another 6 months).
3. Patients, this takes time for the child to get into the routine. After a while the child will go to sleep and stay that way.
I would say the most important thing over all this is to have a routine. If there is no routine then there will be problems. We didn’t start the routine early enough with our younger boy and he’s still got some problems. The older boy we started the routine almost immediately after he was born and to this day he goes to bed without much problem.
Wow, it must be the lack of sleep…….. this is the closest I’ve ever seen your comic to using questionable language. Even including the last panel your site always consistantly stays clean and as a dad I appreciate that. My kids can view your comics without being exposed to nasty language that other comics have no problem using. Keep up the good work, I hope the baby lets ya’ll sleep soon.
Thanks for the feedback Barry and argonsassistant. I abhor using profanity, so you won’t find any in my comic strips. I felt that the colorful language on panel 4 fit the tone of what I was feeling. Have no fear, my comics will always be family friendly.:)
Ferber method can be a pain in the …., I agree but, it can be worth it in the long run.
My brother, back in the days, used that method and at some point, it paid off.
But, in the short term, it will be painful for the parents.
All I can say is: Patience my young Padawan, patience!

I agree that it did fit for sure.
On a COMPLETELY ADD note-I found it amusing you portrayed yourself sleeping in your glasses~
Have you made sure that she isn’t experiencing colic?
