So is there Indian food that doesn’t have curry in it?
I know one thing though, when talking to an Indian cook and you mention that the dish you had last time was good but just not spicy enough then you have only yourself to blame when the next time he prepares the meal for you that you feel like someone set off a nuclear device in your head.
Yeah, I always thought of curry as the style of cooking not an ingredient. I’ve had a hard time trying to explain that concept to my parents and in-laws when I’ve tried to take them out for Thai or Indian. They always come at me with “But I don’t like the taste of curry powder…”, and I have to try and get them to realize that curry powder and curry cooking are not the same.
The funny thing is, I lived in India for several years before I ever encountered a dish named something curry… Everything always had some other name. Except the chicken curry my in-laws’ cooks make for me. In fact, I can’t think of even one other dish named curry…
Rats!… shows you how I can miss comments some time.
I didn’t know I inspired it, Krishna! My apologies for not noticing!
Just the mention of Curry made me hungry… again!
Thanks!

Finally found a takeaway with a vindaloo that makes my eyes water. Need Indian friends that live closer to me though so I can get some real fire.
