I typically try to avoid conversations while I’m on long flights… (and the Budapest incident did, in fact, take place).
Just a reminder…
I’ll be having a table at Megacon in Orlando, Florida this Saturday and Sunday. I’ll have copies of “Rebootus Maximus”, and both Sampler editions available for sale, along with free sketches!
( Plug: The Sampler books contain the very first printings of UNcubed – these comics haven’t been printed anywhere else. )
This is my first “BIG” show – last August, Aarti and I attended Mini-Megacon, which was scaled down version of the main show (both in terms of vendors and audience). The main Megacon show brings a ton of people – so it should be a great time.
If you’re planning to attend, stop by my table (I’ll be in Artist Alley, with a huge PC Weenies vertical banner behind me) – you can’t miss it!
Don’t forget to check out today’s PC Weenies while you’re at it!
After over two years, the one thing that has been bugging me about UNcubed is my character design. I finally took a few moments this evening to re-explore the character designs, with the idea of further simplifying and streamlining the look of the principle cast, namely myself, Aarti and Sonia. Here are but a few sketches from tonight’s exploration:
I’m going to continue practicing and evolving the characters with the goal of making the characters more consistent and appealing.
I should have a new strip up this afternoon. Just a little behind, that’s all. There will be one more UNcubed strip next week before I take a hiatus until next year (mid-January or thereabouts).
I hope to add more photos and blog entries in this spot, while I’m overseas.
In 1983, my family visited India. While in Calcutta, we stayed with my fathers’ side of the family.
During that summer, there was a very popular promotion running by drink manufacturer Gold Spot (an orange drink, similar to Orange Crush, here in the states). Underneath every Gold Spot bottle cap was an image from the Jungle Book. The goal was to collect all the special caps and stick them on a sheet.
The reward, a special-sized Jungle Book comic. Getting all the bottle caps meant that my cousins and I would drink Gold Spot at every opportunity, or convince family and friends to do so. Our goal, of course, was to collect as many caps as we could.
Over the course of a month, we resourcefully amassed over 3 sheets worth of caps, for three complete copies of the Jungle Book comic. I still have mine, shown below:
This book was a nice trip down memory lane. Maybe other folks from India remember this promotion too?
I’m in Knoxville, TN. I spent a few hours this afternoon in my “old” room. This room is where my stuff is, but I don’t really consider it to be my room, because my parents moved to a new house after I left for college.
Anyhoo…
While rummaging through a few of my old boxes, I found a few old high school yearbooks…
My 20 year high school reunion is next year. I feel old, just by typing that.
Fascinating TED talk with Davdutt Pattanaik, as he compares the myths of India and the West. We’re all really alike, with different cultural perceptions that are shaped by cultural myths.
I’m harnessing the power of the UNcubed collective to help me find a good food processor – one that can chop, slide and shred. My budget is $50 – and the food processor should be easy to operate and (more importantly) easy to clean up.
Which brands do you recommend? Which should I avoid? Thanks in advance!
