American pizza chains are big business in India. Dominos, Pizza Hut, Smoking Joes (cool name!), and now Papa John’s! I had to do a double-take when I first saw the sign for Papa John’s – it was in Hindi – but the motto’s still the same. And nearly all pizza delivery is done via motorcycle. It’s not unusual to see a Domino’s or Papa John’s delivery guy cruising around on a typical day. (And even McDonald’s delivers!)

While in India we had pizza once – the day before our return back to the States. It was pretty good, although tailored to the Indian tongue. (We had a veggie pie, which included the standard olives, onions and bellpeppers – with the addition of corn).

As for beverages, I quite enjoyed Kingfisher beer. It’s a bit difficult to find in the US (outside of Indian restaurants, I haven’t seen it anywhere.) The two mugs captured in the photo above were part of an “all you can eat and drink buffet”. Unlimited beers. Imagine that.

Thanks to a family friend, I was able to keep the two glasses as souvenirs from my brief stay in Pune.
